Technically, it’s still the first part of the month, and restaurants are still revealing new items on their menu. Chego restaurant out in Los Angeles is no exception. Chego, the stand-alone cousin companion of the Kogi BBQ truck, has just revealed these amazing looking Chinese pork belly stuffed donuts. They are complete with Sriracha mayo, pickled veggies and sesame sugar. Sweet, savory and spicy? Check. Check. Check.
Through mid April 2011, El Pollo Loco will be offering up two fish tacos — the Classic Baja Fish Taco and the Spicy Avocado Fish Taco. Both tacos feature crispy beer battered Alaskan white fish hiding in corn tortillas with shredded cabbage and fresh cilantro. The Classic Baja Fish Taco comes complete with yogurt sauce mixed with their signature house salsa recipe; the Spicy Avocado Fish Taco is highlighted by yogurt sauce alongside Loco’s avocado salsa recipe. Each of the two tacos comes with a slice of lime and are available individually or as part of a combo that includes any two fish tacos and a small drink.
Just a few days after revealing the Quad Steak Burrito, Taco Bell took to its locations yet another Quad Steak concoction…in quesadilla form! This Quad Steak Quesadilla utilizes four portions of Taco Bell‘s new thick steak, a blend of three melted cheeses – cheddar, pepper jack and mozzarella – and creamy jalapeño sauce all folded in a freshly toasted tortilla. What does “four portions” of steak really mean? They are referencing that this burrito has 4 times the amount of steak that their Steak Quesadilla has.
For a limited time only, Oregon and Washington based Burgerville chain will be introducing two new menu items that put Yahmhill County Portobello Mushrooms in the limelight. The first item is a Roasted Portobello Focaccia Sandwich, sporting a portobello mushroom roasted in garlic and olive oil, topped with provolone cheese, caramelized red onions, lettuce and garlic aioli. All of this is served on a toasted herb focaccia with sun-dried tomato spread.
To accessorize your burger, the chain has fashioned up some Portobello Wedges. These strips are made of portobello wedges, hand battered and breaded in panko bread crumbs and fried to a golden brown. Served with your choice of garlic aioli or Litehouse Ranch dipping sauce. I’ll take a bit of both sauces, a dabble of Sriracha all mixed in a cereal-sized bowl. Thanks.
Sailing in just in time for Lent season, Jack in the Box presents its limited time only Fish Sandwich Combo Meal for $2.99. Jack in the Box’s Fish Sandwich consists of two lightly battered fillets of Alaskan Pollock complete with lettuce and tartar sauce on a warm sesame seed bun. The $2.99 meal version comes complete with a small order of fries and a small drink.
On a recent visit to Palermo’s Pizzeria & Cafe our friend Nick decided to UP his Foodbeast game by ordering up their Spaghetti and Meatball Pizza. The pizza consists of a hand tossed crust with chunky tomato sauce, a blend of Mozzarella & Provolone cheeses, spaghettini, meatballs and sprinkled with Parmesan & Romano cheese. I never thought spaghetti on a pizza would look so appetizing, but I guess when it’s fresh…it’s just another layer of deliciousness. Count me in!
