Red Robin Turned One Of Their Burgers Into A Beer

While we’ve heard of plenty beer-inspired burgers from fast-casual spots, this might be the first time a restaurant went the other way and turned one of their popular burgers into a beer.

Red Robin just created a new alcoholic beverage inspired by their Banzai Burger.

The Golden Ale-style beer, called the Grilled Pineapple Golden Ale, boasts a 5.5% alcohol by volume. The New Belgium brewmasters used ginger, brown sugar, and black malt to build up the Umami notes found in the Banzai Burger. The burger itself features a teriyaki-glazed beef patty topped with grilled pineapple, cheddar cheese, lettuce tomatoes, and mayo.

It’s pretty interesting to see brands draw inspiration for craft beers straight from the burgers on the menu. If a success, Red Robin and other restaurant chains, could potentially tap into a vast resource of inspiration for new brews. Though we draw the line at anything with chunks of meat in it.

The Grilled Pineapple Golden Ale will make its debut at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver on Oct. 6-8.

Man Claims To Have Invented ‘Hangover-Free’ Synthetic Alcohol

Everyone knows that a hangover is the price for a great night of drinking. However, what if there was a way to avoid that unpleasant morning after and just bask in the “great” part?

A new synthetic alcohol has been discovered that’s said to completely pass through the hangover phase of drinking, according its creator Professor David Nutt of Imperial College and a former government drugs advisor.

Called ‘alcosynth’, the beverage was designed to mimic the positive effects of alcohol. The best part is, consumers won’t experience nausea, dry mouth, and throbbing heads. Nutt has already patented about 90 different alcosynth compounds.

Professor Nutt compares the effects of alcosynth to four or five drinks before they “max out.”

Because of the high cost of funding research for the drink, it will more than likely be a while before you can get your hands on alcosynth at a bar. However, Nutt hopes that people will be regularly drinking the synthetic alcohol by 2050.

The only downside to the discovery, it seems, is that we will no longer have the excuse to gorge on greasy hangover foods the next day. Hash browns and steak are an amazing way to squash that hangover.

SECRET MENU ALERT: How To Order A Pumpkin Spice Nitro Latte at The Coffee Bean

Basic bitch season is finally upon us, and while you’ve probably already had your first, second, and third pumpkin spice latte, we’re willing to bet you’ve never tried it in Nitro Cold Brew form.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s secret menu game is coming strong this fall, as the seasonal addition of pumpkin spice sauce means we can start asking for it in Nitro Cold Brew form.

The workers are most likely aware of the Pumpkin Nitro Latte drink, but if they’re not, they certainly have the ingredients for it, so, worst case scenario, you just have to order it as a “Nitro latte with pumpkin sauce added.”

We went to go try the drink ourselves, and the youngster at the register looked at us like we were crazy, going as far as to say, “That’s never been a thing.” Luckily his coworker swooped in, told him that it’s a part of the secret menu, and showed him how to ring it up. They came out to exactly $5 each for a regular-sized drink, which is a weird total, but whatever.

If you’re not familiar with Nitro, it’s nitrogen-infused cold coffee that comes straight from a tap and is ready to serve with no ice needed.

Pro tip: with Nitro as a base, you can actually add any of The Coffee Bean’s flavored sauces to it, whether it’s caramel, peppermint, or pumpkin spice.

For Just ONE Weekend, Bill Murray Will Be A Bartender

Ever wonder what it’d be like to grab a drink with Bill Murray? Well, if you’re fortunate enough to be at the opening of his son’s new spot in Brooklyn, NY, you might have that chance.

According to Time Out New York, the Groundhog Day star and former Ghostbuster will be tending bar at 21 Greenpoint’s opening in Brooklyn. This restaurant and bar is owned by Murray’s son Homer, who got his dad to be there Friday, September 16, through Sunday, September 18, to help ring in the grand opening.

The 65-year-old actor isn’t green when it comes to bartending, either. Six years ago, Murray showed up at the Austin Shangri-La during SXSW with the Wu-Tang Clan and started serving drinks to guests.

Unfortunately, Time Out says that the event is a closed affair with guest list-only in attendance. Still, if you were one of the lucky folks to be invited, make sure to leave a tip. Maybe he’ll make another appearance at the restaurant. You really never know with a dude like Bill Murray.

Fireman’s Brew Debuts A New IPA, Their First New Beer In Nearly A Decade

Fireman’s Brew, a popular LA-based craft beer company, just announced they will introduce a new beer for the first time in nearly a decade. The new brew will be a Fireman’s take on West Coast-style India Pale Ale.

The new Fireman’s IPA will feature a blend of Cascade, Columbus, Chinook, and Galena hops. With the introduction of the new IPA, Fireman’s Brew will also offer their product in new 16-oz cans.

Rob Nowaczyk, founder of Fireman’s Brew, said that the can will allow for greater access to activities once deemed impossible. Customers can now have the craft beer at concerts, tailgates, and other locations deemed “off-limits” for glassware. The beer will also be available at California-based venues like Dodger Stadium for those looking to enjoy an IPA while watching the game.

You can find the new IPA brew in late September at Total Wine & More locations and expect a nationwide release in Winter 2016.
