Jason Derulo Has Gone Full Foodbeast During Quarantine And We’re Here For It

The quarantine life has us all on kitchen duty and results have been a mixed bag for many. Folks not used to their way around the kitchen have been forced to get acquainted while others may have found a second calling the way they’ve been giving full exec chef energy with some creative and delicious creations. Count one of those of the latter to be pop star Jason Derulo.

The “Want To Want Me” star has been making the most of being at home with entertaining TikTok videos that have him either showing off his renowned dance moves, doing funny skits, and most surprisingly of all, going full blown Foodbeast in the kitchen with some uber decadent recipe videos.

Celebrating 10 million followers on TikTok ! So I made this🤯

A post shared by Jason Derulo (@jasonderulo) on

In a series of TikTok and Instagram videos that have him celebrating million follower milestones, Derulo is seen concocting some pretty Foodbeast-worthy creations like skillet pancakes loaded with what looks to be the entire candy section of the movie theatre concession stand and French toast sticks loaded with all the sweetest breakfast cereal. In the video up top, he’s celebrating 16 million followers on TikTok by throwing together a chocolate pizza that’s got a caramel-glazed pizza crust and topped with what looks like Nutella, cookie dough, M&M’s, and chopped up Twix bars. Wow.

Look I’m not even mad that watching some of his recipes feels like my blood sugar is rising dramatically. I mean the man is out here living his best Foodbeast life and buying ovens with automatic pop-out trays — I support it!

Checkers & Rally’s Are Giving Out Free Meals to Healthcare Workers

Known for their “Crazy Good Food,” Checkers & Rally’s have shifted their focus towards crazy good hospitality.

Now, at all 250 locations nationwide, first responders and medical workers can get a free small combo at the fast food chain, solely by showing up in their uniform.

Each combo includes a small order of fries, a small drink, and a choice of one of the following entrees: Big Buford (which may be the best name out there for a fast food item), Cheese Champ, Chili Dog, BBQ Bacon Roadhouse, Half-Pound Chicken Bites, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Baconzilla, 5-piece Wings, or a Deep Sea Double.

The restaurant’s employees will also benefit from the policy, as they’ve been deemed “essential workers,” and will get a free small meal for every shift they work.

This is in addition to the $100,000 they donated to No Kid Hungry that’s estimated to provide a million meals to children, and certainly shows a commitment to helping the communities that surround each location, which is rare for such a large chain.

Hats off, Checkers & Rally’s.

We Turned Mac & Cheese Into CHILAQUILES and CHEESECAKE Recipes

In what has become a fun exercise of our kitchen creativity, Foodbeast personalities and friends have been cooking up themed recipes for the past weeks. Shelter at home has really left us with some prime time to think up some Foodbeast-worthy recipes such as Elote Ramen and Pancake Mix Funnel Cakes! In this next round of quarantine cooking, we’ve set our hearts on the warm, cheesy comfort food that is mac & cheese.

Tapping into our fond memories of what mac & cheese mean to us, we came up with a collection of recipes that are easy to make at home and mouthwatering. Pushing the culinary boundaries this week are Bacon-Wrapped, Mac & Cheese-Stuffed Pasilla Peppers, Macaroni Chilaquiles, Quarantine Casserole, and a Mac & Cheesecake. Sheesh, this week’s roster of recipes are definitely worthy homages to arguably one of the greatest comfort food dishes ever.

La Monarca Bakery’s Horchata Cake Is The Very Definition of Moist

la monarca bakery horchata cake

Face it, many of us are coming out of this quarantine earning fresh and comfy extra poundage like a hibernating grizzly. Folks are either cooking up a storm like Gordon Ramsay in The Matrix (didn’t happen, but if it did good lord Mr. Smith you’re in for a sumptuous feast) or hitting up food delivery on the regular, so trust my theory holds weight. You know what else does? The Horchata Cake and Tres Leches Cake from La Monarca Bakery & Cafe.

With 12 locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area, La Monarca has Angelenos covered when it comes to sweet Mexican treats and unique coffee offerings. And what could be a sweeter form of indulgence than a Horchata Cake and Tres Leches Cake?

Their Tres Leches (translates to ‘three milks’) Cake is a Mexican classic: vanilla sponge cake with house made tres leches milk blend, topped with vanilla bean chantilly cream (fresh whipped cream w/sugar) and a dark chocolate ganache swirl, topped with preserved cherry.

La Monarca tres leches cake

Now for the Horchata Cake, they basically used the same principle of a Tres Leches Cake and soaked it with their house made horchata. It’s a novel and simple premise that executes perfectly, with each morsel of the cake being the very definition of moist. Each bite practically had my tastebuds splashing through the whole experience like it was the first day of summer at the community pool. It’s no wonder that La Monarca’s Horchata Cake is a best seller, with one Yelp user gushing, “It tastes like Mexican heaven.”

Now imagine pairing these cakes up with La Monarca’s signature cafe drinks like their Oatchata Latte or Tres Leches Latte and you’ve got yourself an ideal situation for any fan of irresistible cake and delicious coffee.

Though circumstances have completely flipped as a result of social distancing and shelter at home mandates, Easter is still around the corner and festivities are in order. Mango and Tajin Fruit Ice Bars Are A Combo Made in Heaven

Photo: Outshine Snacks

It’s raining right now, chilly, and I’ve been locked away at home for the last four days. Mostly, I’ve been drinking tea, spending quality time with my computer, and looking forward to a coronavirus-free summer. Remember the beach? Or how annoying a cloudless sky can become when you forget your sunglasses? Yeah, I’ll even welcome that right now.

Adding a silver lining to all this, Outshine Snacks has released the perfect summertime compliment, mango ice bars with Tajin. Mangos of course need no introduction, yet Tajin, while wildly popular, may be less familiar depending on your cultural circumference. Originating in Mexico, Tajin is a condiment made from salt, dehydrated lime, and a combination of granulated chiles de árbol, guajillo and pasilla. This gives it a tangy flavor with a spicy kick. Combined with fruit, it definitely gives your tastebuds a zap.

Outshine Snacks are made with real fruit, are non-GMO and are gluten-free. If you’re anxious to get your summer started early, you can find the nearest retailer here.

Biscoff KitKats Exist, I Repeat, Biscoff KitKats Do Exist

Photo: Nestlé / Lotus Biscoff

Hands down, Biscoff cookies are in my top five best cookies of all time category. Similarly, Kit Kats are pretty classic. Knowing that, picture the droolfest from the news of both brands fusing into the super snack that is BisKats or Kitcoffs. I’m joking of course, because Biscoff KitKats is the official name of this tastiness. Sadly, I wish I could say, “you can find the tastiness here in America,” but you can’t. Biscoff KitKats are only available in the Middle East and a few select UK locations.

The collaboration features Biscoff’s signature buttery spread paired with KitKat’s crunchy wafer and chocolate. Originally only available in Saudi Arabia and Dubai, the sweet news has spread like wildfire and Biscoff KitKats has begun traveling with it. The UK was just the first stop so there’s only a matter of time before it lands stateside (fingers crossed). This Facebook post about it has over 16k comments alone. The excitement is palpable. I believe the Biscoff KitKat has the potential to be bigger than even Green Tea KitKat. That’s right, I said it.

In the meantime, until North America is blessed with this treat, I suppose the next best thing would be to go grab some Biscoff spread and a pack of KitKats from the store and have a party.

Easy At-Home Pancake Mix Recipes, Including FUNNEL CAKE

Many of us are working from home these days and as all the days of the week seem to blend together, our meals might start looking the same after a while, too. If you’re one who wants to shake up a few things in the kitchen, Foodbeast has been challenging one another to come up with dope at-home recipes with a unified theme each week. This, week: PANCAKES.

Using Krusteaz, who offers a variety of baking mixes that will cater to your pancake cravings, we came up with five recipes that will change how you look at pancake mix.

Foodbeasts Oscar, Marc, Hunter, and Constantine took to their kitchens and came up with four very unique recipes that all incorporate Krusteaz pancake mix. This includes a fluffy omelet, a giant Instant Pot pancake, fish and chips, pancake swirls, and funnel cake.

Check out the video to try and make some of these amazing eats in the comforts of your own homes. As for myself, I’m pretty stoked to try out Constantine’s pancake battered fish and chip recipe sometime this week.
