7-Up Used To Have Lithium, So Scientist Mixed Them Back Together For Disgusting Results [WATCH]

From around 1929 to 1948, when 7-Up was first introduced to the world, the drink contained lithium citrate, which may or may not have had mind-altering effects, depending on who you ask.

Anyway, when scientists get bored, they mix stuff together, so Periodic Videos decided to flash back to the good ol’ 40s and blend some 7Up with lithium.

These are the same guys who dunked a McDonald’s Cheeseburger in stomach acid for fun, so I guess it’s safe to say this is their “thing.”

The narrating scientist looks like he put inside a character generator, and the most science-y looking person in the world popped out, with wild ass white hair and thick spectacles over his eyes.

What ended up happening when they dipped the lithium inside a 7Up-filled flask was kind of grody, as the drink fizzed up and ended up looking like boiling pond water.

It’s not to say that people were drinking something that burned their insides, but the ingredient was banned in 1948, so something wasn’t right there.

Anyway, enjoy the vid below and watch old dudes mess around in a lab they way we always wanted to in high school:
